My two cents…
I work on a college campus, one that has infamously decided to shut down campus to any non-student to “ban” 4/20 activities today. The reasoning behind this campus shut down is to reduce “distractions” and cost. This decision is making me furious.
First off, I am a grown woman who knows that people out there *gasp* smoke marijuana. I know NOT to trek towards the gathering any 4/20 that I have been on campus. I have never, nor plan on becoming, “distracted” by this particular gathering.
Secondly, cost - REALLY?! The satellite campus is running a shuttle bus specifically for today, there are more than 100 security staff on campus, and four law enforcement agencies are visibly present today. The amount of personnel on campus today must exceed the $50K that is estimated to clean up.
I am not in any way, shape or form an activist. HOWEVER, I think the discouragement of public assembly to collectively express, promote, pursue and defend common interests is not a decision that should be upheld by a campus administration, a city council, or a judge.
Double take
So the cute boy in the office gave me a double take this morning. Yes I’m wearing a dress and yes I’m rocking the hell out of it!
